Indore: Three persons were killed and two others sustained injuries in two separate road accidents reported in Khandwa district over the past 24 hours. According to investigators, speeding was the primary cause in both incidents.
First Accident: Fatal Collision on Kenud Road
The first accident occurred around 10 pm on Sunday near a petrol pump on Kenud Road, under the jurisdiction of Mundi police station. An unidentified speeding vehicle struck a motorcycle carrying two riders, both aged 25, resulting in their instant deaths. The deceased were identified as Dharmendra, a resident of Mohad village, and Mahendra, from Rangaon village. They were childhood friends and both unmarried. The duo was returning home after completing their shift at Singaji Thermal Power Plant, where they worked for a private company.
Mundi police station in-charge Rajendra Narvaria stated, “A case has been registered against the unidentified driver. We are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby commercial establishments to identify the vehicle involved.”
Second Accident: Tractor-Trailer Overturns on Family
The second accident took place on Monday morning on Omkareshwar Road near a canal in the Mortakka area. A tractor-trailer loaded with manure collided with a motorcycle carrying a family of three, causing the trailer to overturn and trap the victims. Bystanders stopped their vehicles and manually lifted the overturned trailer to rescue Dilip Dawar and his two-year-old son. However, Dilip’s 22-year-old wife, Manisha, succumbed to severe injuries on the spot.
Mortakka police outpost in-charge Lakhan Dawar informed that the family, residents of Khargone, was traveling to visit relatives in Dukiya village. The injured father and son are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital, where their condition has been reported as stable.
The accident caused a temporary traffic jam on the highway before police cleared the wreckage and restored normal traffic flow.
