The Anna Science Centre - planetarium in Trichy has announced that public shows will be temporarily suspended on May 11 and 12, 2025, to facilitate essential maintenance work. Visitors planning to attend the planetarium during these two days should note that the regular screening of astronomical shows will not be available.
Other Facilities Remain Operational
While the planetarium shows are paused, other attractions within the science centre complex will continue to operate as usual. These include the engaging 3D shows, the environment gallery, the science park, and the evolution park. Families and science enthusiasts can still enjoy these interactive exhibits and educational displays without interruption.
Night Sky Observation Programme
On the preceding Saturday, the planetarium successfully conducted a night sky observation programme from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Participants were given detailed briefings on astronomical observations and upcoming celestial events. The session provided an opportunity for attendees to view celestial bodies through telescopes and learn about constellations, planets, and other phenomena visible in the night sky.
For those interested in astronomy, the planetarium regularly hosts such events to promote public interest in space science. The maintenance closure is expected to ensure that the planetarium's equipment and facilities remain in top condition for future shows.
