Truck driver burnt to death in Madhya Pradesh accident

Bhopal: A tragic accident on the Rewa-Sidhi road claimed the life of a 36-year-old truck driver late Friday night. The driver, identified as Brijesh Gautam, was transporting cement from Barigwan to a Birla plant in Satna when his vehicle overturned and caught fire near Gahri Pakra village.

Sequence of events

According to police, the driver lost control of the truck around 2 am. The vehicle first collided with a mango tree before overturning on the roadside. Within minutes, the truck was engulfed in flames, trapping Gautam inside the cabin. He could not escape as the fire rapidly spread.

Rescue efforts

Passers-by alerted Dial 112 and local police after spotting the burning vehicle. A team from Gudh police station rushed to the spot, but by the time they arrived, the driver had already succumbed to his injuries. His body was later sent for post-mortem examination.

Investigation ongoing

Police suspect the driver may have dozed off at the wheel, leading to the accident. However, further investigations are under way to determine the exact cause. The accident also disrupted traffic on the Rewa-Sidhi road for some time before the damaged vehicle was removed.
