In a tragic incident on Friday evening, two brothers drowned in the Lower Bhavani Project (LBP) canal in Erode district. The deceased have been identified as Santosh, 18, and Sanjay, 15, sons of S Bhupathi from Musiri in Trichy district.

Bhupathi had brought his two sons to their maternal uncle's house at Arachalur in Erode district. According to an officer at Arachalur police station, the siblings were bathing in the LBP canal at Arachalur when they got trapped in the slush and drowned. The incident occurred around evening, and local residents alerted the authorities.
Rescue Operation
Upon receiving the alert, fire and rescue services personnel from Chennimalai rushed to the spot. They conducted a search operation and recovered both bodies. The bodies were then sent to the Erode Government Medical College and Hospital for postmortem examination.
