The US Army has confirmed the death of a second American soldier during the African Lion 2026 military exercises in Morocco, bringing the tragic incident to a close. The body of the missing soldier, identified as 19-year-old Mariyah Symone Collington from Florida, was recovered after an extensive multinational search mission. Collington served as an air and missile defense crewmember.

Officials reported that both Collington and Kendrick Lamont Key Jr. went missing after falling from a cliff during an off-duty hike near Cap Draa. The recovery operation involved more than 1,000 US and Moroccan personnel, utilizing drones, aircraft, naval assets, dive teams, and AI-assisted search operations.
Search and Recovery Efforts
The massive search mission ended successfully with the recovery of Collington's body. The US Army expressed condolences to the families of both soldiers and emphasized the thoroughness of the search efforts.
