Sapling Plantation Drive in Sringeri Assembly Segment
In the Sringeri assembly segment, the event was marked by a collaborative effort involving the forest department, the education department, and the Sringeri Kshetra Raita Okkutta. The Okkutta, led by Gaddemane Vishwanath, supplied various types of saplings to government-run schools in the area. Members of the organization, along with officials and school students, participated in planting a total of 5,000 saplings across 172 government schools in the segment.
Call for Environmental Responsibility
Vishwanath Gaddemane emphasized that it is everyone's responsibility to contribute to the environment and stressed the need for sustainable development to ensure a healthy atmosphere for future generations. He remarked, "Our ancestors gave us a good forest and environment, and we need to protect them. There would be nothing for our next generation if we destroy forests and trees." He added that nature and forests play a prominent role in maintaining a healthy atmosphere.
Gaddemane urged students to take care of the saplings and plants on school premises. He also called for minimizing the use of plastic and appreciated the foresters for their efforts to protect the environment in the Malnad region.
Appreciation from Forest Officials
Koppa Deputy Conservator of Forests Shivashankar appreciated the efforts of the Okkutta in organizing the plantation drive and contributing to environmental conservation.
