Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has again recorded a maximum temperature of 43.4 degrees Celsius on Monday, matching the same temperature it registered on April 26. This marks the highest maximum temperature in the past three years, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Heat Wave Conditions Across Marathwada
Among other cities in the Marathwada region, Parbhani registered a maximum of 43.2 degrees Celsius. The Met office has warned of heat wave conditions for the next 48 hours, with the maximum temperature potentially reaching 45 degrees Celsius.
Many citizens reported that the rise in mercury levels was palpable. “I was on the field and sweating profusely during afternoon hours,” said rickshaw driver Vishal Narware.
Humidity and Precautions
The relative humidity in the city air was 31% by 8:30 am and dropped to 15% by 5:30 pm, as per IMD data. In the wake of the heat wave warning for the next two days, disaster management authorities have advised caution.
“Any form of physical labour should be avoided during the peak summer period. Covering ears and head with white cotton clothes is highly recommended,” said District Disaster Management Officer for Nanded, Kishor Kurhe Patil.
