Snake Rescuer Tejas Puttur Saves Cobra Trapped in Grass-Cutter Blade in Karnataka Village

In a remarkable wildlife rescue operation, a spectacled cobra that became entangled in the blade of a grass-cutting machine at a residence in Anantadi village, Bantwal taluk, Karnataka, was successfully saved by renowned snake rescuer Tejas Puttur. The intricate two-hour rescue mission took place on Monday, with forest department officials overseeing the procedure to ensure safety and compliance with wildlife protocols.

Unusual Circumstances Lead to Cobra's Entrapment

The incident unfolded at the home of Purushotham Gowda, where the family had stored eggs in a bucket and placed the blade of a grass-cutting machine over it as a makeshift cover. It is believed that the cobra, attracted by the eggs, entered the bucket in search of a meal and inadvertently became ensnared in the sharp blades of the machine. This created a precarious situation requiring expert intervention to prevent harm to both the snake and the rescuers.

Expert Rescue Operation by 'Snake Tejas'

Tejas Puttur, widely known as Snake Tejas for his expertise in handling reptiles, conducted the delicate rescue in the presence of forest department staff member Dayanand. Utilizing specialized tools and techniques, Tejas carefully freed the cobra from the blade, demonstrating precision and patience throughout the operation. Following the rescue, the snake received immediate first aid to address minor injuries sustained during the ordeal.

Due to these injuries, the cobra will be kept under close observation for two days before being released back into its natural habitat, as confirmed by Tejas Puttur. This precautionary measure ensures the reptile's full recovery and minimizes risks upon reintroduction to the wild.

Additional Wildlife Rescue: Porcupine Saved from Well

In a separate incident highlighting his dedication to wildlife conservation, Tejas Puttur also rescued a porcupine that had fallen into an under-construction well containing approximately 10 feet of water at Kedila Puttur. The porcupine, suspected to have fallen into the well on Saturday, was discovered by locals who initially hoped it would climb out on its own and left support materials in the well.

Deputy range forest officer Ullas, along with other staff members, was present during this rescue operation. After being safely extracted, the porcupine was examined and subsequently released into the wild, underscoring the ongoing efforts to protect Karnataka's diverse fauna.

These incidents emphasize the critical role of trained wildlife rescuers in mitigating human-animal conflicts and preserving biodiversity in rural and urban settings alike.
