Fresh Showers Trigger Cold Snap and Disruptions in Tarn Taran
Intermittent rain throughout Thursday has significantly disrupted normal life across various parts of Tarn Taran district, bringing back a noticeable winter chill. Light to moderate showers continued to lash remote areas, compounding the effects of rainfall over the past four days.
Temperature Plunge Forces Return to Winter Habits
The persistent rainfall has led to a sharp drop in temperatures, making the weather distinctly colder. Residents, who had recently switched to lighter summer bedding, are now compelled to use heated bedding again at night. Sukhbir Kaur, a local housewife, shared that her family had transitioned to summer bedding just a week ago, but the sudden cold conditions have forced a reversal, with fans being turned off to conserve warmth.
Cloudy conditions persisted throughout the day, further intensifying the chill in the atmosphere. Apart from Tarn Taran city, light rain was reported from almost all parts of the district, with several areas experiencing light to moderate showers.
Waterlogging Adds to Commuter Woes
Due to inadequate drainage systems in the city, waterlogging was reported on multiple roads, causing significant inconvenience to commuters. Residents faced considerable difficulties while traveling to and from their workplaces, with accumulated rainwater on key routes like the Chabal-Amritsar bypass road exacerbating the situation.
The combination of colder weather and logistical challenges has highlighted the ongoing impact of the seasonal shift, affecting daily routines and mobility in the region.
