The coastal state of Odisha is on high alert as a brewing cyclonic storm approaches its shoreline, prompting authorities to launch one of the largest evacuation operations in recent history. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued severe weather warnings, predicting the system will intensify into a significant cyclonic disturbance within the next 48 hours.
Mass Evacuation Underway
District administrations across vulnerable coastal regions have been directed to immediately relocate residents from low-lying areas to safer ground. Special attention is being given to Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara districts, where the storm's impact is expected to be most severe.
