Weather Department Predicts Thunderstorms and Rain
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast predicting thunderstorms accompanied by rain for Friday night and extending into Saturday. This weather activity is expected to bring relief from the recent heat and potentially improve air quality conditions in the capital.
Air Quality Remains in Moderate Category
Delhi's air quality continued to hover in the 'moderate' category. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 189 at 7 pm on Thursday. Earlier in the day, at 9 am, the AQI stood at 167, showing a slight deterioration as the day progressed.
The CPCB categorizes AQI levels as follows:
- 0–50: Good
- 51–100: Satisfactory
- 101–200: Moderate
- 201–300: Poor
- 301–400: Very Poor
- 401–500: Severe
With the current AQI of 189, Delhi falls within the moderate range, indicating that air pollution is present but not at hazardous levels for the general population. However, sensitive groups may experience minor breathing discomfort.
The combination of dusty conditions and impending rainfall highlights the dynamic weather scenario in Delhi-NCR, urging residents to stay updated on forecasts and take necessary precautions during outdoor activities.
