Dubai Unveils 'Work from Park' Initiative to Revolutionize Public Spaces

Dubai has launched an innovative 'Work from Park' initiative, designed to transform public parks into multifunctional areas where individuals can work, relax, and network. This move aims to adapt to evolving work habits and enhance the overall quality of life for residents and professionals in the city.

Program Details and Strategic Partnerships

The program, spearheaded by Dubai Municipality, will establish dedicated work zones within parks, offering open, nature-infused environments for professionals. This initiative seeks to maximize park utility throughout the day while providing support for remote workers, freelancers, and small businesses. To facilitate this, Dubai Municipality has entered into agreements with Group AMANA and Letswork for the design, construction, and management of these workspaces.

This project is strategically aligned with broader long-term urban development plans, including the Dubai Urban Plan 2040, the Dubai 2040 Parks and Greenery Strategy, and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. The first implementation site is scheduled to open in May 2026 at Al Barsha Pond Park. It will feature modular workspaces built to high sustainability standards, seamlessly integrated into the park's natural landscape. Additional locations across Dubai are planned for later in the year.

Leadership and Vision for Future-Ready Urban Spaces

Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, emphasized the initiative's significance: 'Dubai Municipality's 'Work from Park' initiative reflects our commitment to transforming public parks into future-ready urban spaces that enhance quality of life while supporting economic activity.' He highlighted that the partnerships will deliver flexible and sustainable infrastructure tailored to modern work patterns.

Innovative Construction and Operational Framework

The construction of these workspaces will utilize modular building methods, led by Group AMANA through its DuBox division. This approach involves off-site fabrication and rapid on-site assembly, which reduces waste, minimizes environmental impact, and ensures high quality and adaptability. Richard Abboud, CEO of Group AMANA, expressed enthusiasm: 'We are pleased to be part of the 'Work from Park' initiative, as modular construction enables efficient and adaptable work environments.'

On the operational front, Letswork will manage access to facilities via its platform. Users will be able to book various amenities, including:

  • Hot desks
  • Event areas
  • Podcast studios
  • Creative production spaces

Omar AlMheiri, co-founder of Letswork, noted: 'Our partnership represents a significant step toward redefining the future of flexible work in the UAE, and the initiative will also introduce creative spaces and tools for content creators.'

Community Engagement and Economic Impact

The initiative will extend beyond physical infrastructure to include workshops, training sessions, and collaborative programs aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and fostering skill development within Dubai's burgeoning creative economy. By integrating public and private sector efforts, the project is expected to unlock new investment opportunities while revitalizing parks as active, community-centric spaces.

This endeavor is part of Dubai's overarching strategy to cultivate a more flexible, sustainable, and innovation-driven urban environment, positioning the city as a leader in adaptive urban planning and quality-of-life enhancements.
