Gurgaon Experiences Sharp Temperature Drop, Weather Department Issues Alerts
The city of Gurgaon witnessed a dramatic overnight cooling as the minimum temperature plummeted by nearly 7 degrees Celsius. On Saturday, the mercury dipped to 7.3 degrees Celsius, a significant fall from the previous day's reading of 14.1 degrees Celsius.
IMD Attributes Dip to North-Westerly Winds
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has explained this sudden temperature decline. Officials stated that cold north-westerly winds are sweeping across northern India following the eastward movement of a western disturbance. This atmospheric shift has brought the chill to Gurgaon and surrounding regions.
Upcoming Rainfall and Weather Disruptions Forecast
Residents should brace for more unsettled weather. The IMD predicts another spell of light to moderate rainfall in Gurgaon on Tuesday. A fresh western disturbance is expected to affect northwest India starting January 26th.
This weather system is likely to bring:
- Light to moderate rain at isolated places across Haryana
- Thunderstorms and lightning
- Gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour
An IMD official provided detailed projections: "Light to moderate rainfall is likely on January 26th and 28th, with peak intensity and wider spread expected on January 27th."
Fog, Cold Wave Conditions, and Temperature Fluctuations Expected
The weather department has issued specific warnings for the coming days:
- Dense to very dense fog may occur during night and early morning hours at some places in Haryana on Sunday and Monday.
- Cold wave conditions may prevail at isolated locations.
- Minimum temperatures are expected to remain stable for the next two days before rising by 4-6 degrees Celsius over the subsequent two days.
- Temperatures will likely fall again by 3-5 degrees Celsius once the weather system moves away from the region.
Saturday's Weather Recap and Current Alerts
