IMD Forecasts Isolated Rainfall and Thundershowers in Goa on March 18-19

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting isolated rainfall and thundershowers across the state of Goa on March 18 and 19. This brief change in weather conditions is expected to bring a temporary shift from the prevailing dry spell.

Detailed Weather Outlook for Goa

According to the IMD forecast, partly cloudy skies accompanied by thundershowers or light rain are likely to prevail over both North Goa and South Goa districts during this two-day period. However, the weather on March 17 is expected to remain completely dry with partly cloudy skies across the entire state.

Similarly, from March 20 to March 22, dry weather conditions along with partly cloudy skies are forecast to return and prevail across Goa. This indicates that the rainfall activity will be confined to just the two-day window of March 18-19.

Temperature and Humidity Observations

Observational data recorded on March 16 at key IMD observatories in Panaji and Mormugao provide context for current conditions. In Panaji, the maximum temperature was recorded at 33°C while the minimum temperature was 23.5°C. Relative humidity stood at 65%.

At the Mormugao observatory, temperatures were slightly higher with a maximum of 33.4°C and minimum of 24.6°C. Relative humidity was significantly higher at 81%, reflecting the coastal location's typical moisture levels.

Both locations reported temperatures remaining close to normal seasonal levels, suggesting stable conditions before the anticipated rainfall event. The forecasted thundershowers represent a typical pre-monsoon weather pattern for the region during this time of year.

The IMD's regional forecasting system continues to monitor weather developments across Goa and will issue updates as needed. Residents and visitors should prepare for possible brief disruptions during the predicted rainfall period while enjoying the otherwise pleasant spring weather conditions.
