Indore witnessed unusually warm nighttime conditions on Sunday, with the minimum temperature climbing to 22.4°C, approximately four degrees above the normal range for this time of year. Residents reported restless sleep and a persistent warmth lingering through the early morning hours, marking a stark contrast to the typically milder nights characteristic of March in the region.
Daytime Heat Persists Despite Slight Dip
By 8:30 AM, the temperature had already reached 26°C, contributing to an overall sense of heat throughout the day. Although the daytime maximum temperature registered a slight decrease at 35.8°C, it remained firmly entrenched in warm territory. Even as late as 5:30 PM, the mercury hovered around 35°C, maintaining a steady heat load on roads and bustling market areas across the city.
Meteorological Department Forecasts Welcome Relief
Significant relief is anticipated to arrive starting March 30, according to forecasts from the Meteorological Department. The prediction includes light rainfall, cloudy skies, thunderstorms, and gusty winds expected to sweep across parts of Indore and the broader Ujjain division. Wind speeds are projected to reach between 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, which should bring a brief period of cooling to the area.
A weather official commented, "The minimum temperature is likely to drop as these weather systems become active, providing some respite from the current warm conditions."
