Residents of Kanpur division woke up to a slightly warmer morning on Monday. The minimum temperature climbed to 7.4 degrees Celsius, offering some relief from the recent intense cold. A clear sky allowed bright sunshine to spread across the region throughout the day.
Temperature Trends Show Gradual Rise
The division has seen a slow increase in nighttime temperatures over the last two days. On Sunday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.8 degrees Celsius. Monday's reading of 7.4 degrees marks a small but noticeable improvement. However, the maximum temperature on Monday settled at 20.7 degrees Celsius. This figure is lower than Sunday's high of 22.4 degrees and also falls below the normal range for this time of year.
Weather Scientist Explains Fluctuating Conditions
Dr. Sunil Pandey, a weather scientist at CSA University, provided insights into the current patterns. He stated that fluctuations in night temperatures are expected across Uttar Pradesh, including the Kanpur division. Dr. Pandey explained that mild melting conditions may prevail during the night, morning, and evening hours. While light fog could appear occasionally, the sky is likely to remain clear with bright sunshine during the daytime.
Dr. Pandey also issued a warning about incoming weather changes. He said that north-westerly winds may blow at speeds around 11 kilometers per hour. These winds are predicted to lead to cold and chilly conditions from the evening until the early morning hours in the coming days.
IMD Forecasts Fog and Clear Afternoons
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released its forecast for the region. The IMD predicts fog and mist during the morning and evening hours in the near future, attributing this to humidity levels. Despite this, bright sunshine is expected in the afternoon. The sunshine will be accompanied by an increase in north-westerly wind speeds. The IMD has clearly ruled out any possibility of rainfall in the Kanpur division for now.
Public Response to the Changing Weather
With clear weather prevailing on Monday, many people took advantage of the sunny conditions. They could be seen basking in the sun on terraces and in courtyards, enjoying the temporary warmth. However, as the afternoon progressed, the situation changed. People began returning indoors after 4 PM as chilly conditions set in, a reminder that winter is not yet over.
The overall weather pattern suggests a mix of pleasant days and cold nights ahead. Residents should prepare for temperature swings and the impact of north-westerly winds.
