Karnataka Weather Alert: Week-Long Rain and Thunderstorms Forecast
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a significant weather alert for Karnataka, predicting light-to-moderate rain and thunderstorms across the state over the next seven days. This forecast, released on Tuesday evening, indicates that isolated places will experience these conditions, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds ranging from 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.
Detailed District-Wise Forecast for Karnataka
According to IMD scientists, the following districts are expected to see light-to-moderate rain and thundershowers: Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Bagalkote, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Gadag, Koppal, Bijapur, Ballari, Chamarajanagar, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Hassan, Kodagu, Mysuru, Mandya, and Vijayanagar. Residents in these areas should prepare for potential disruptions due to the adverse weather conditions.
Enhanced Weather Warnings for Specific Regions
In addition to the widespread forecast, more severe weather is anticipated in certain parts of Karnataka. Isolated places in Shivamogga, Haveri, Belagavi, and Dharwad districts are likely to experience moderate rain and thundershowers with even stronger winds, reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour. This heightened activity could lead to localized impacts such as fallen trees, power outages, and temporary travel delays.
The IMD advises citizens to stay updated with official weather bulletins and take necessary precautions during this period. Avoid venturing out during thunderstorms, secure loose outdoor objects, and be cautious of slippery roads and reduced visibility. This extended forecast highlights the need for vigilance as Karnataka braces for a week of potentially stormy weather, which may affect daily activities and agricultural operations in the region.
