Kerala Weather Update: Heavy Rains to Subside by Sunday, IMD Forecasts Dry Spell

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather update for Kerala, indicating that rain or thundershowers will prevail in a few places across the state until Sunday. Following this period, dry weather is expected to take over, bringing relief from the recent wet conditions.

Recent Rainfall Data and Temperature Records

On Tuesday, moderate to heavy rainfall was reported in many areas, with specific measurements highlighting the intensity. Mannarkkad received the highest rainfall at 7 centimeters, closely followed by Ottapalam with 6 centimeters. Peermade recorded 5 centimeters of rain, while Vellanikkara and Mannarkkad each saw 4 centimeters.

Despite the widespread rainfall in several districts, Palakkad recorded the highest temperature of 36.9 degrees Celsius. Other locations, including Punalur, Cial Kochi, Kannur airport, and Kottayam, recorded temperatures around 35.6 degrees Celsius.

Humidity Levels Across Kerala

Humidity readings varied significantly, with Palakkad experiencing a high of 98% relative humidity. In contrast, all other reported places saw relative humidity levels ranging from 81% to 87%, indicating moist conditions persisting in many areas.

This weather pattern underscores the variability in Kerala's climate, with heavy rains impacting some regions while others face elevated temperatures. Residents are advised to stay updated with IMD forecasts as conditions evolve towards a drier phase starting next week.
