The state of Rajasthan is currently undergoing a significant seasonal transition, characterized by a sharp contrast between warm afternoons and lingering chilly mornings. On Saturday, the temperature disparity was particularly pronounced. Barmer emerged as the hottest location in Rajasthan, recording a maximum temperature of 35.6°C. In stark contrast, Fatehpur in the Sikar district registered a minimum temperature of just 4.5°C. This extreme variation underscores the ongoing shift from winter to summer, with daytime heat intensifying while early morning hours retain their winter chill.
Jaipur Meteorological Centre's Analysis
According to the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, active northerly winds are primarily responsible for the current weather pattern. These winds maintain cool conditions during the morning hours while allowing temperatures to rise steadily throughout the day. In the state capital, Jaipur, the minimum temperature settled at 14.0°C, while the maximum climbed to 29.1°C under partly cloudy skies. Many residents were observed shedding their winter clothing by afternoon as solar intensity increased.
Regional Variations and Upward Temperature Trend
Across most districts, both maximum and minimum temperatures are showing a consistent upward trend. However, the Shekhawati region—encompassing districts such as Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Churu, and Bikaner—continues to experience notably chilly mornings. Minimum temperatures in several areas within this region remain below 10°C, indicating that winter's grip persists in these traditionally colder pockets.

The Meteorological office has issued a forecast predicting light rainfall in parts of the Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Ajmer divisions starting from February 17. This precipitation is attributed to an approaching western disturbance. The anticipated showers may cause a slight dip in temperatures, offering temporary relief from the rising daytime heat. Weather officials emphasize that the overall pattern clearly indicates winter is gradually retreating across the state.
