Ranchi IMD Forecasts Ideal Holi Weather with Sunny Skies and Rising Temperatures
The Ranchi office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has delivered welcome news for Holi revellers, predicting clear skies, bright sunshine, and a slight rise in maximum temperatures across Jharkhand during the festival of colours. This forecast ensures that outdoor celebrations will proceed without disruption from rain or extreme heat.
Detailed Weather Predictions for the Festive Period
Ranchi IMD director Abhishek Anand provided specific insights, stating, "Neither rain nor extreme heat conditions will spoil the spirit of the festival of colours. Most districts are expected to witness bright sunshine with dry weather conditions over the next few days." He further explained that maximum temperatures are projected to increase by 1-2°C on Tuesday, followed by a gradual rise of 2-3°C across the state starting from Friday.
Current Temperature Readings Across Jharkhand
On Monday, various locations in Jharkhand recorded notable temperature increases compared to normal levels:
- Ranchi: 30.8°C, an increase of 1.7°C
- Jamshedpur: 34.8°C, an increase of 1.3°C
- Daltonganj: 35.4°C, an increase of 4.4°C
- Bokaro: 34.1°C, an increase of 5.3°C
- Chaibasa: 33.8°C, an increase of 3.5°C
The Saraikela automatic weather station (AWS) registered the highest maximum temperature in the state at 35.6°C, while Hazaribagh AWS recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 14.2°C.
Festive Preparations and Travel Surge in Full Swing
As Holi approaches, the festive spirit has enveloped Ranchi, with shops reporting brisk sales of colours and related items. Simultaneously, transportation hubs are experiencing significant activity. Outbound trains and buses from Ranchi to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and various other parts of the state witnessed a heavy passenger rush on Monday, as people travel to their native places to celebrate the festival with family and friends.
