Rotary Club Gives 1,000 Cloth Bags to Yamunanagar MC

The Rotary Club of Yamunanagar has donated 1,000 cloth bags to the Yamunanagar Municipal Corporation as part of its ongoing efforts to promote environmental sustainability and reduce plastic waste. The initiative aims to encourage residents to adopt reusable bags instead of single-use plastics, which have become a major environmental concern.

Promoting Eco-Friendly Alternatives

Speaking on the occasion, club president Rajesh Gupta emphasized the importance of collective action in combating plastic pollution. 'We believe that small steps can lead to big changes. By providing these cloth bags, we hope to inspire citizens to make environmentally conscious choices in their daily lives,' he said. The bags will be distributed through municipal corporation offices and public events to reach a wide audience.

Support from Municipal Authorities

Municipal Commissioner Anil Kumar appreciated the Rotary Club's contribution and assured that the bags would be used effectively. 'We are grateful to the Rotary Club for this thoughtful gesture. These bags will be given to residents, especially in markets and public places, to reduce the use of plastic carry bags,' he stated. He also urged other organizations to come forward with similar initiatives.

Community Engagement

The donation drive is part of a larger awareness campaign focused on waste management and cleanliness. Rotary Club members have been actively involved in organizing street plays, rallies, and workshops to educate the public about the harmful effects of plastic. The club has also planted trees and installed dustbins in various parts of the city. 'Our goal is to create a cleaner and greener Yamunanagar,' added Gupta.

The cloth bags are made from sustainable materials and are durable for repeated use. This initiative is expected to reduce the demand for plastic bags, which often clog drains and harm wildlife. The Rotary Club plans to continue its environmental projects throughout the year, including recycling drives and clean-up campaigns.
