On Monday, parts of Telangana witnessed scattered thunderstorm activity, yet this did little to mitigate the ongoing heatwave, as temperatures across the state remained alarmingly high. Even in Hyderabad, daytime temperatures stayed elevated throughout most areas, underscoring the persistent heat stress affecting residents.
Record-Breaking Temperatures in Hyderabad Localities
Data from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) revealed that several localities in Hyderabad recorded maximum temperatures soaring above 40°C. The highest temperature was observed at New Nagole in the Saroornagar circle, reaching a scorching 41.7°C. This was closely followed by Musheerabad (Chilkalguda) at 41.6°C, and Santosh Nagar and Charminar both at 41.5°C.
Other notable hotspots included:

- LB Nagar: 41.3°C
- Malkajgiri: 41.3°C
- Mehdipatnam: 41.1°C
Even areas typically considered cooler remained warm, with the University of Hyderabad in Serilingampally recording 39.7°C and BHEL in Ramachandrapuram at 39.8°C. Most regions remained in the alert category, defined by temperatures between 40°C and 45°C, indicating continued and significant heat stress for the population.
India Meteorological Department Issues Weather Warnings
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), weather conditions are expected to remain unstable over the next 24 hours. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds, and hail are very likely at isolated places in several districts, including:
- Bhadradri Kothagudem
- Khammam
- Mahabubabad
- Sangareddy
- Kamareddy
Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are also forecast across a broader range of districts, such as Nizamabad, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal.
