A devastating storm accompanied by heavy rain has wreaked havoc across Uttar Pradesh, claiming at least 111 lives and leaving 72 others injured. The state government has initiated relief operations, with authorities closely monitoring the situation in coordination with district officials.
Casualties and Damage
The storm, which struck multiple districts, caused widespread destruction, including uprooted trees, damaged homes, and disrupted power supply. The death toll is expected to rise as rescue teams reach remote areas. Most fatalities were reported due to collapsing structures and lightning strikes.
Government Response
The commissioner's office confirmed that relief funds have been made available to affected districts. District magistrates have been directed to expedite rescue and relief efforts. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the loss of lives and assured all possible assistance to the victims.
Relief teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), have been deployed to the worst-hit areas. Temporary shelters and medical camps are being set up for the injured and displaced.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier issued a warning for severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall across northern India. Authorities urge residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
