At least six people were killed and more than 10 others sustained injuries after a bus overturned on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Unnao district on Monday. The incident occurred when the bus, en route from Delhi to Bihar, lost control and overturned near Kilometre Marker 262.
Details of the Accident
The injured passengers were promptly taken to the Lucknow Trauma Centre for medical treatment. Among the deceased was sub-inspector Ramchandra, who was traveling from Siwan in Bihar to Delhi along with a prisoner identified as Chhatrapal at the time of the mishap.
Recent Spate of Road Accidents in Uttar Pradesh
This tragedy adds to a series of road accidents in Uttar Pradesh. A few days earlier, in a separate incident in Barabanki district, a truck trailer ran over people sleeping outside their house. That accident claimed the lives of four family members, including three children, while a woman sustained serious injuries.
According to reports, Neeraj, 35, died on the spot along with the three children sleeping beside him. Neeraj’s wife, Aarti, reportedly suffered severe injuries in the Barabanki accident.

The repeated incidents highlight ongoing concerns about road safety in the state. Authorities continue to investigate the causes of these accidents and implement measures to prevent future tragedies.
