Assam Rifles Seize 1,200 Detonators in Aizawl

The Assam Rifles on Saturday seized 1,200 detonators from the general Bawngkawn area in Aizawl and apprehended one individual, along with the vehicle used to transport the explosive materials, the paramilitary force said on Sunday.

According to a press statement issued by the Assam Rifles, the operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs regarding movement of explosive materials in the area. Acting swiftly on the information, Assam Rifles personnel started conducting vehicle interception and checking operations at the suspected location.

During the search, security personnel recovered 1,200 explosive detonators, which were concealed beneath the driver’s seat of the intercepted vehicle. The operation was carried out with extreme caution due to the sensitive and hazardous nature of the recovered items. The apprehended individual, along with the seized detonators and the vehicle, was later handed over to Bawngkawn police station for further investigation.
