An elderly couple was tragically killed after being hit by a speeding car on the Delhi-Jaipur highway. The incident occurred late Tuesday evening near the Manesar toll plaza. The couple, identified as Rajesh Sharma, 72, and his wife Geeta Sharma, 68, were crossing the road when a speeding car struck them. The driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Passersby rushed the couple to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival. The police have registered a case of hit-and-run and are investigating the matter. CCTV footage from the area is being examined to identify the vehicle and the driver.
The couple was reportedly returning home after visiting their daughter in Jaipur. They had stepped out of a taxi and were crossing the highway to reach their residence when the accident happened. Local residents expressed outrage over the lack of pedestrian safety measures on the stretch.
