Four-Year-Old Dies After Two Snake Bites in Jangaon

A tragic incident occurred in Mundichintha Thanda of Dharmapuram village, Devaruppula mandal in Jangaon district, where a four-year-old boy died after being bitten by two venomous snakes while sleeping outside his house. The incident took place on Friday, but came to light on Saturday.

Details of the Incident

According to Devaruppula sub-inspector (SI) U Srujan, the boy was sleeping alongside his parents, Balaji and Kavitha. In the early hours of Friday, two snakes reportedly entered the house premises and bit the child multiple times on both legs. The first snake bit him on his right leg, while another later bit him on his left leg.

As the boy was in a deep sleep, he did not feel any pain initially. About an hour later, he noticed injuries on his legs and informed his parents, who identified the injuries as snake bites. They also spotted the snakes, which were identified as a Russell’s viper and another viper species. The child’s father, Balaji, killed them immediately.

Medical Response and Outcome

The parents rushed the child to MGM Hospital in Warangal for treatment. However, the boy died while undergoing treatment at the hospital on Friday night. A case has been registered, and the body was shifted for post-mortem examination. After the post-mortem was completed, the body was handed over to the family members.

This incident highlights the dangers posed by venomous snakes in rural areas. Authorities have urged residents to take precautions, such as keeping sleeping areas clean and using mosquito nets to prevent snake entry. The family is grieving the loss of their young child, and the community is in shock.
