ICE arrests Indian man for sexual abuse of minors

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced the arrest of Indian national Nava Kunal Tupili, who was previously convicted of sexual abuse of minors. The Department of Homeland Security stated that Tupili, described as a criminal illegal alien from India, was convicted for accosting children for immoral purposes and using a computer to commit a crime in Wayland, Michigan.

ICE reported that Tupili had an existing ICE detainer as he was residing illegally in the United States. He entered the US on a student visa, which was revoked in 2024. The county jail honored the detainer and transferred Tupili to ICE custody instead of releasing him.

Over the previous weekend, ICE arrested criminal illegal aliens across the country convicted for despicable crimes including sexual assault of a child, human trafficking for sexual servitude, sexual solicitation of a minor, rape, kidnapping, and other appalling offenses, the department said.

Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis commended the efforts of ICE officers, stating: "Over the weekend, the heroic men and women of ICE arrested criminal illegal aliens convicted for some of the worst crimes imaginable, including sex trafficking, child rape, and kidnapping. ICE law enforcement never takes a day off—even on the weekends—from removing criminal illegal aliens from American communities. If you see an ICE law enforcement officer, thank them for removing these heinous criminals from our country."
