The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) launched fresh waves of airstrikes across Lebanon, striking more than 70 Hezbollah infrastructure sites with approximately 85 munitions. In a post on X, the IDF stated that in the area of Tyre, 10 command centers, weapons storage facilities, and additional infrastructure used by Hezbollah were targeted. The IDF also reported that Hezbollah terrorists operating on motorcycles were eliminated.
Broader Strikes and Casualties
In addition to the strikes in Tyre, the Israel Air Force attacked Hezbollah infrastructure in the Beqaa Valley and several other areas in Lebanon. According to Al Jazeera, citing Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA), the Israeli air strikes have resulted in seven deaths and multiple injuries. An air attack on Machgharah killed five people and injured several others, forcing rescue teams to evacuate survivors from beneath the rubble of targeted homes. Another strike on Kouthariyeh el-Siyad killed two people and wounded two others.
New Restrictions in Northern Israel
Following the attacks, Israel's Home Front Command announced new restrictions in northern border communities. Effective Tuesday, outdoor gatherings are limited to 50 people, and indoor gatherings to 200 people, reduced from previous limits of 200 and 600, respectively. Local authorities in northern Israel have also closed schools until further notice, as reported by The Times of Israel.
Netanyahu Orders Intensified Operations
The strikes come after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the military to intensify operations against Hezbollah. This follows a US official signaling Washington's approval for a larger operation against the Iran-backed group amid a surge in drone attacks. In a video statement, Netanyahu declared, 'We are at war with Hezbollah. Just in recent weeks, our brave fighters have eliminated more than 600 terrorists. But we are not taking our foot off the gas. On the contrary, I have instructed them to press the pedal even harder.'
