ITLF Women Protest for Release of 14 Kuki Hostages

The women’s wing of the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) staged a sit-in protest at the Wall of Remembrance in Churachandpur on Wednesday, starting at 11:00 am. The protest demanded the release of 14 Kuki civilians allegedly held captive by Naga groups, along with the arrest of those responsible for the killing of three pastors in an ambush between Churachandpur and Kangpokpi on May 13, 2026.

Protest Demands

During the demonstration, women protesters questioned why the United Naga Council had withdrawn its earlier decision to release the 14 civilians. The participants appealed to the central government to ensure their safe release on humanitarian grounds at the earliest. Placards at the protest site carried messages such as “Cold Blooded Must Not Be Normalised In Democracy,” “Three Lives Taken,” and “14 Held Hostage,” among others.

Continued Action

The ITLF has declared that the protest will continue until the 14 civilians are freed and the perpetrators of the pastor killings are apprehended. The women protesters remained resolute in their demand for justice and the safe return of the hostages.
