Maharashtra Man Dies in Car Overturn on Khandwa-Amravati Highway

A 23-year-old man from Maharashtra lost his life after a car carrying four friends overturned on the Khandwa-Amravati state highway in the early hours of Saturday.

Accident Details

The incident occurred around 1 am near the grain market at Gudi village, under the Piplod police station limits in Khandwa district. The group was traveling to Ujjain to perform a special 'Kalsarp Dosh' ritual at the Mahakaleshwar temple.

Gautam Sevani, a resident of Amravati, died at the scene after being flung out of the vehicle due to the crash. Police reported that the car's airbags did not deploy, which may have aggravated the impact injuries.

Injuries and Response

Two women in the car — Tanu Chand Miyan (26) from Amravati and Nayara Ali (24) from Delhi — sustained minor injuries and were discharged after primary treatment. The driver escaped unhurt.

Personnel from Piplod police station arrived at the scene and transported the injured to the district hospital. Gautam's body was later sent for postmortem examination.

Driver's Account

During questioning, driver Darshan Yogesh (23) told police that he felt drowsy while driving and briefly lost control of the vehicle. He further stated that an animal suddenly appeared on the road, and while trying to avoid it, he applied the brakes sharply, causing the car to overturn.
