Opium in Candy Wrappers Seized in Mandsaur Parcel to Canada

Indore: In a significant operation, the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) seized 455 grams of opium that was cleverly concealed inside candy wrappers. The contraband was found in a parcel being booked for Ontario, Canada, at the New Abadi post office in Mandsaur. The incident unfolded on Monday after CBN officials received intelligence regarding a suspicious package destined for Canada.

Suspect Flees After Raising Suspicion

The person attempting to book the parcel fled the post office when staff questioned him about its contents. This triggered an immediate narcotics investigation. A CBN team from the Mandsaur cell was dispatched to the location, but before they could arrive, the suspect had already abandoned the parcel and escaped.

Discovery of Disguised Narcotics

Upon arrival, CBN officials, in the presence of post office authorities, opened and examined the package. Inside, they found two boxes of ‘Love Pan’ candy. However, upon opening each wrapper, officers discovered approximately 25 small pouches filled with opium, cleverly disguised as actual candies. The total weight of the seized narcotic substance was 455 grams, while the remaining wrappers contained regular candy.

CBN officials stated that the narcotic substance was seized under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The postal staff had become suspicious because the man appeared nervous while answering questions about the parcel's contents. Authorities are now examining CCTV footage from the post office to identify the suspect and further the investigation.
