Guwahati: In a significant development, seven armed members of various insurgent groups in Nagaland surrendered at the Dimapur Police Station on Thursday. The surrender was the result of persistent persuasion and coordinated efforts by security forces.
Details of the Surrender
A defence PRO stated that based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of cadres belonging to multiple factions in the general areas of Dimapur, the Assam Rifles launched sustained outreach and coordination efforts. These initiatives aimed to encourage misguided youths to shun the path of violence and return to the mainstream.
The surrendering cadres deposited a cache of weapons, which included four .22 calibre pistols with ammunition, one 7.65 mm pistol with ammunition, one single barrel shotgun, one single barrel gun, and one carbine with magazine.

The successful surrender highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-based operations and the humane, persuasive approach adopted by the security forces.
