At least six people were killed and seven others injured after a passenger bus collided head-on with an autorickshaw at Tadakapalli under Purushottampur police limits in Ganjam district on Friday, police confirmed.
Details of the Incident
The private bus was en route to Berhampur when the accident occurred. The impact of the collision left the autorickshaw badly mangled, resulting in multiple fatalities on the spot. The injured were immediately rushed to the Community Health Centre at Kodala, where three individuals are reported to be in critical condition.
Rescue and Response
Local residents and police personnel quickly arrived at the scene, rescuing the injured and arranging for their medical treatment. Officials including Inspector-in-charge of Purushottampur police station, Kulamani Sethy, and tehsildar Binod Behera supervised the rescue operation. The identities of the deceased had not been confirmed at the time of filing this report.
