A major road accident involving three vehicles disrupted traffic on the Delhi-Jaipur national highway in Rewari district on Friday morning. The collision occurred near a bidi factory in Asalwas village, leading to a temporary traffic snarl on the busy stretch.
Sequence of Events
According to police, a truck-trailer coming from Delhi to Jaipur lost control near Asalwas, broke through the central divider grill and veered onto the wrong side of the highway. It then collided head-on with a light commercial vehicle (LCV) coming from Jaipur towards Delhi.
Moments after the impact, a car following the LCV rammed into the crashed vehicles, resulting in a pile-up. All three vehicles were badly damaged in the accident.
Injuries and Response
The LCV driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital by locals who reached the spot immediately after the crash. The accident led to traffic congestion on the highway for some time. Upon receiving information, a team from Kasola police station reached the site and cleared the damaged vehicles to restore normal traffic movement.
Investigating officer Manish said the injured truck driver was identified as Girdhari Lal, a resident of Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan. He added that the victim was later referred from Rewari and taken by his family to another hospital for further treatment. The driver suffered injuries to his leg and is currently not in a condition to record his statement.
Investigation
Police further stated that the trailer driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle, and efforts are underway to trace him. "A case will be registered, and the driver will be apprehended soon," the officer said. Preliminary investigation suggests that the accident may have been caused due to the driver dozing off or losing control at a bend on the highway.
