The Malaysian government has deported two Indian fugitives allegedly involved in the Shambhu railway track blast that occurred in Patiala district on the night of April 27.
SSP Confirms Deportation
Patiala SSP Varun Sharma confirmed the development but declined to disclose the identities of the deportees.
“They have been deported with the help of central agencies. We will seek their custody and disclose the details soon,” he said, adding that it was a sensitive matter.
Operation by Malaysian CID
The operation was carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Royal Malaysian Police based on intelligence shared by Indian security agencies.
Jagroop Singh of Tarn Taran had died on the spot after an improvised explosive device (IED), which he was allegedly trying to plant, detonated on the railway track.
Terror Module Exposed
Subsequent crackdowns by the Punjab Police and central agencies exposed a pro-Khalistan terror module. Investigators alleged that the network was being directed by Pakistan's ISI to orchestrate targeted bombings across India’s rail transit corridors. The two suspects arrived in New Delhi, where they were taken into custody by central agencies.
Statement from Malaysian Police
Director of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Royal Malaysian Police Datuk M Kumar said the deportation followed a request from the Indian authorities to locate and detain the two individuals.
“This collaboration reflects the continuous commitment of the Royal Malaysian Police in combating transnational crime while strengthening international security synergy,” he said. The arrest and subsequent handover of the fugitives highlight growing operational cooperation between New Delhi and Kuala Lumpur. Both countries have recently enhanced legal frameworks and data-sharing arrangements to counter terror financing and cross-border militancy.
