Two Nepalese Minor Girls Rescued From Trafficking in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The city police on Sunday announced the rescue of two trafficked Nepalese minor girls from a hotel in the Patia area. The girls have since been rehabilitated at a short-stay home, according to officials.

Details of the Rescue Operation

A senior police officer confirmed that the Nepal Embassy in Delhi has been informed to facilitate the repatriation of the two girls. Both victims, aged 17, reported that they were trafficked into Kolkata from Nepal last month. They narrated how an Odia man rescued them in Kolkata and subsequently brought them to Bhubaneswar, where they sought help from the Nepal Embassy.

Police Action

Acting on information provided by the embassy, the Chandrasekharpur police conducted a rescue operation and safely extracted the girls from the hotel. The police have ensured their temporary rehabilitation while coordinating with diplomatic authorities for their return to Nepal.
