Yogi Warns West Asia Crisis May Cause Fuel, Food Shortages

LUCKNOW: At the 9 Defining Years of Transformation Conclave in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the unfolding crisis in West Asia as a significant global challenge with serious implications for India and the world. Drawing parallels with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chief Minister warned that geopolitical tensions in the region could trigger shortages of fuel, food, and fertilisers, impacting economies far beyond the conflict zone.

Man-Made Crisis vs. Natural Calamity

Yogi Adityanath emphasised that while COVID-19 was a global disaster largely considered a natural calamity, the current situation in West Asia represents a man-made crisis. 'The world is staring at a potential energy crisis, food crisis and fertiliser crisis,' he said, noting that such disruptions require collective preparedness rather than political point-scoring.

Call for National Unity

The Chief Minister underlined the need for national unity during times of global uncertainty. He appealed to citizens to respond responsibly to the Prime Minister's repeated calls for energy conservation and self-reliance. Yogi Adityanath urged people to avoid selective or premature criticism of the Centre's appeals, stressing that national issues must rise above partisan debate.

Reducing Dependence on External Energy

Yogi Adityanath highlighted that India must reduce its dependence on external energy sources by promoting renewable energy, public transport, electric vehicles, and alternative fuel models. Referring specifically to Uttar Pradesh, he said the state could address LPG dependency by expanding PNG connections in urban areas and promoting sustainable solutions in rural regions.

Innovative Community-Driven Models

The Chief Minister proposed innovative, community-driven models such as installing biogas plants near cow shelters (gaushalas) to support collective village kitchens, reduce fuel consumption, and protect the environment. He described this as both an economic and environmental solution that could be replicated nationwide.

Collective Responsibility

Calling the present situation a test of collective responsibility, the Chief Minister said, 'When the nation is secure, citizens are secure. When the nation is prosperous, everyone prospers.' He emphasised that every citizen has a role to play in safeguarding national interests during global crises.

Appeal for Restraint and Constructive Action

Concluding his remarks on the West Asia situation, Yogi Adityanath appealed for restraint, informed discussion, and constructive action. 'Criticism may have space in politics, but when it is a matter of national interest, we must think together, discuss calmly and act in the interest of the country,' he said.

The Chief Minister's address at the conclave served as a reminder of the interconnected nature of global challenges and the importance of proactive measures to mitigate potential crises.
