Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has declared that Russia has no intention of ending the war, as the conflict continues to escalate with no diplomatic resolution in sight. Speaking at a press conference, Zelenskyy emphasized that Moscow's actions demonstrate a clear desire to prolong hostilities rather than seek peace.
No Signs of De-escalation
Zelenskyy pointed to recent Russian military offensives and the lack of meaningful negotiations as evidence that the Kremlin is not interested in ending the war. He noted that despite international pressure and sanctions, Russia has continued to intensify its attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure and civilian areas.
International Response
The Ukrainian leader called on the international community to maintain and even strengthen support for Ukraine. He stressed that only through sustained military aid and economic pressure can Ukraine hope to defend itself and eventually force Russia to the negotiating table.
Zelenskyy also expressed frustration with some Western nations that have shown signs of war fatigue, warning that any reduction in support would only embolden Russia. He reiterated that Ukraine's fight is not just for its own sovereignty but for the security of all of Europe.
Humanitarian Crisis
The ongoing war has created a severe humanitarian crisis, with millions of Ukrainians displaced and critical infrastructure destroyed. Zelenskyy highlighted the urgent need for humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts, even as the fighting continues.
He concluded by stating that Ukraine remains open to diplomacy but will not accept any peace deal that compromises its territorial integrity or sovereignty. The path to peace, he argued, requires Russia to first demonstrate a genuine willingness to end the war.
