Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday departed for a two-day state visit to Seychelles, emphasizing his commitment to advancing the progress of both nations and promoting security and prosperity in the Indian Ocean region. The visit, from June 27 to June 29, comes at the invitation of Seychelles President Patrick Herminie, who visited India in February 2026.
Historic Address to National Assembly

Strengthening Maritime Cooperation
Modi highlighted Seychelles as a key partner in India's Vision MAHASAGAR and the Global South. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that a contingent of the Indian Armed Forces, along with two Indian Navy ships, will participate in Seychelles' National Day celebrations, underscoring close defense and maritime ties.
Bilateral Talks and Regional Issues
During the visit, PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with President Herminie to review cooperation across various sectors and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. The visit also marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles.
