Karnataka: 13 arrested for country pistols in Khanapur

In a major crackdown on illegal arms manufacturing, Karnataka Police have arrested 13 individuals for allegedly making and selling country-made pistols in Khanapur, located in Belagavi district. The arrests were made following a coordinated operation based on intelligence inputs about a network involved in the production and distribution of illicit firearms.

Details of the Arrests

Among those arrested was Ningappa Nayak, a resident of Kalenatti in Belagavi. According to police sources, Nayak had paid a man identified as Sutar to manufacture the country pistols. The operation led to the seizure of several semi-finished and finished pistols, along with tools and equipment used in their production.

Police Investigation

The police have launched a thorough investigation to trace the entire supply chain, including the sourcing of raw materials and the buyers of these illegal weapons. Preliminary inquiries suggest that the pistols were being sold to local criminals and possibly to individuals in neighboring districts.
