President Donald Trump on Friday (June 19) inspected his upgraded Boeing 747, a gift from Qatar, at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland as the aircraft neared delivery to join the Air Force One fleet. The jumbo jet, offered by Qatar as a gift to the president last year, was overhauled by defense contractor L3Harris Technologies. It has undergone flight tests and sports a red, white, dark blue, and gold livery chosen by Trump.
Luxury and Modernization
The addition to Trump's fleet provides a more modern and luxurious plane for the president, his aides, security detail, and the media. The cost of the upgrade has not been disclosed. The rapid completion of the project has led some experts to question whether the aircraft is as secure as the existing Air Force One fleet.
Security Concerns
Critics worry that the speedy overhaul may compromise security protocols. However, the White House has not commented on these concerns. The new plane is expected to join the fleet soon, offering enhanced comfort and technology.
