US Treasury Delists Four Indian Firms from SDN List
The United States has removed four Indian companies from its sanctions list, according to the US Department of the Treasury. The companies were previously accused of supplying advanced technology and equipment to Russia's military-industrial base. The delisting was confirmed on Tuesday by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), which updated its Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List.
Companies Removed from Sanctions
The four de-listed companies are Hyderabad-based RRG Engineering Technologies Private Limited and Lokesh Machines Limited, Ahmedabad-based Galaxy Bearings, and New Delhi-based Shaurya Aeronautics Private Limited. These firms had been sanctioned for allegedly exporting dual-use items to Russian entities.
Galaxy Bearings was sanctioned in October 2024 for exporting dozens of high-priority dual-use equipment, including roller bearings and roller assemblies, to Russian entities. Shaurya Aeronautics was accused of sending shipments of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus, radio remote control apparatus, and electrical apparatus to Russia.
RRG Engineering Technologies was alleged to have sent over 100 shipments of microelectronics to Arteks Limited Company, a Russia-based entity on the SDN list. Lokesh Machines was accused of shipping dozens of machine tools to various Russian manufacturing companies.
Impact of Delisting
The delisting removes these companies from the US sanctions list, allowing them to resume normal business operations with US entities and access the US financial system. The move signals a potential shift in US enforcement priorities regarding India-based firms accused of aiding Russia's military efforts. The US Treasury did not provide specific reasons for the removal, but such actions often occur when companies demonstrate compliance with US export controls or when evidence of wrongdoing is insufficient.
