IMD Forecast for Thursday and Beyond

The IMD has issued an orange alert for Thursday, July 9, predicting heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over Chandigarh. The warning has been downgraded to a yellow alert from Friday, July 10, through Sunday, July 12, with expectations of thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph, and isolated heavy rain spells.

From Monday, July 13, onward, no weather warning has been issued for the city, indicating a reduction in rainfall activity, though isolated monsoon showers may continue.

Temperature Outlook

Maximum temperatures are forecast to remain between 32°C and 34°C through the weekend before gradually rising next week. Minimum temperatures are expected to stay around 25°C.

IMD Spokesperson Comments

An IMD spokesperson noted that the current weather pattern continues to support intermittent monsoon activity. “Moisture availability remains adequate over Chandigarh. While rainfall has been localised over the past few days, conditions are becoming favourable for a more active spell on Thursday. Thereafter, intermittent rain is likely till the weekend before rainfall activity decreases from next week,” the spokesperson said.
