Visakhapatnam: Duvvada railway station has achieved the 9th position among the top 20 revenue-generating railway stations in the East Coast Railway (ECoR) Zone for the 2025-26 financial year. This information was obtained under the Right to Information (RTI) Act from the office of ECoR in Bhubaneswar and was shared by Kanchumurthi Eswar, secretary of the Duvvada Railway Users Association.
Consistent Improvement Over Years
Duvvada station has demonstrated steady progress in revenue ranking over recent years. It moved from the 13th position in 2023-24 to the 10th position in 2024-25, and further advanced to the 9th position in 2025-26. Meanwhile, Visakhapatnam railway station continues to hold the first position in the zone consistently.
Revenue and Passenger Statistics
During the 2025-26 financial year, Duvvada railway station recorded total revenue earnings of approximately Rs 41.37 crore. The station also handled a significant passenger volume, with total inward passengers at about 14.69 lakh and total outward passengers at around 15.95 lakh. This consistent growth in both earnings and passenger movement highlights the increasing importance of Duvvada station within the ECoR Zone, both as a revenue contributor and as a key passenger transit point, according to Eswar.
Waltair Division Performance
The Waltair railway division has emerged as the fifth-highest revenue-earning division in Indian Railways for 2025-26. It also ranks fifth in freight loading and first in growth of incremental traffic. The division earned Rs 11,598.07 crore, which is 17% higher than the previous fiscal year.
This achievement underscores the robust performance of the region's railway infrastructure and its contribution to the overall railway network.
