A revenue inspector in Karnataka's Haveri district has been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000. The arrest was made by the Lokayukta police, according to officials on Friday.
Details of the Arrest
Lokayukta DySP C Madhusudan confirmed that the official, who was posted at Kaginele in Byadagi taluk, was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe money. The operation was conducted based on a complaint filed by a member of the public.
The accused official has been identified as a revenue inspector, and the bribe amount was reportedly demanded for processing a land-related document. The Lokayukta team laid a trap and apprehended the official with the cash.
Legal Action Initiated
Following the arrest, the Lokayukta police have registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The official is currently in custody and will be produced before a court. Further investigations are underway to determine if there were any other beneficiaries involved in the corrupt practice.
