Airtel Deploys Telecom Network at 30 Remote Army Stations in Arunachal
Airtel Provides Last-Mile Connectivity at 30 Army Stations

To ensure last-mile connectivity in border areas of the Northeast, the Indian Army partnered with Bharti Airtel to establish telecom infrastructure in the challenging terrain of Arunachal Pradesh, providing uninterrupted communication services.

Phase 1 Completion

The first phase of this strategic initiative was completed in collaboration with the 4 Corps of the Indian Army, based in Tezpur, Assam, according to Airtel. The company deployed network infrastructure across 30 Army stations located in mountainous regions, significantly enhancing voice and data connectivity in areas previously limited by geographical and infrastructure constraints.

Logistical Support from the Army

The Indian Army provided extensive logistical support, including assistance for fiber deployment and power infrastructure. In locations where road access was impossible, the Army helped move Airtel technical teams and equipment deep into the mountains.

Phase 2 Expansion

Encouraged by the project's impact, the Indian Army and Airtel have agreed to proceed with Phase 2, which will involve building network sites across 15 additional locations in Arunachal Pradesh.

Bharti Airtel CEO (North East and Assam) Balaji R stated: "This initiative reflects Airtel’s continued commitment to extending connectivity to some of the country’s most difficult terrains. The rollout required extensive coordination between Airtel teams and local support units to overcome immense terrain and weather-related challenges."
