The State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) of Andhra Pradesh, during a meeting on Thursday, cleared projects with a total investment of Rs 30,515 crore. These initiatives are expected to generate approximately 29,677 employment opportunities across the state.
Chief Minister's Vision for Inclusive Industrial Growth
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to ensure that the benefits of industrial development reach poor and middle-class families by creating an inclusive industrial ecosystem. He emphasized that industrial growth should not be limited to entrepreneurs and large corporations but should create avenues for common citizens to participate in the state's progress. Naidu stressed the need to encourage startups and build an ecosystem where young entrepreneurs can access investments and venture capital support.
Focus on Skill Development and Emerging Technologies
The Chief Minister instructed officials to prioritize industry-oriented skill development and redesign educational curricula to meet the demands of emerging sectors such as robotics, artificial intelligence, and advanced technologies. He also directed departments to ensure that approved projects commence operations swiftly and that companies are regularly monitored for progress.
Highlighting future growth areas, Naidu said ethanol manufacturing should be encouraged as it would benefit farmers and reduce dependence on imported fuel. He called for greater focus on biofuels, semiconductor industries, battery technology, renewable energy, electric vehicle infrastructure, and data centres. “Andhra Pradesh should develop a strong semiconductor ecosystem and focus on lithium-ion battery manufacturing and fast-charging technologies for electric vehicles,” he stated.
Infrastructure and Housing Initiatives
Naidu also stressed the importance of manufacturing micro-irrigation equipment to provide affordable technology to farmers. He asserted that Amaravati would emerge as a hub for artificial intelligence, quantum applications, and advanced technologies, calling for a complete ecosystem around the proposed Quantum Valley with technology parks and research facilities. He emphasized tourism infrastructure development, including hotels and resorts at major destinations, and said industrial zones should include affordable housing for workers.
Ministerial Directives on Implementation
IT Minister Nara Lokesh said incentives and concessions should be linked to the actual grounding of projects. He noted that faster implementation would generate revenue for the state and create more employment opportunities. Lokesh added that ITIs and polytechnic colleges were being mapped with local industries to improve skill development. He also announced that a Centre of Excellence for rare earth minerals research will be established at Andhra University.
Ministers Satya Prasad, BC Janardhan Reddy, Atchannaidu, Kandula Durgesh, TG Bharath, and Chief Secretary G Sai Prasad attended the meeting.
