Axis Max Life Insurance Ltd. has implemented GreyLabs AI's Voice AI Suite, a solution designed for BFSI enterprises, achieving a nearly 15% increase in sales conversions. The deployment allows the company to analyze 100% of meaningful customer calls, moving beyond selective reviews to uncover actionable intelligence.
Key Discovery: First 90-120 Seconds Predict Conversion
One of the most significant findings from the AI analysis revealed that the first 90 to 120 seconds of a sales conversation are more predictive of conversion propensity than any demographic profile. This insight has shifted Axis Max Life's sales strategy from focusing on who the customer is to what they say during the call, enabling the identification of high-intent customers and guiding telesales teams more effectively.
Digital Growth and AI Integration
Over the past five years, Axis Max Life's digital business has grown tenfold, with digital channels now contributing approximately 15% of the company's Annualised Premium Equivalent (APE). One in three new customers is acquired digitally, and the online business grows at roughly four times the industry rate, making Axis Max Life one of India's most digitally advanced life insurers.
As digital operations scaled, the volume and complexity of telesales conversations outpaced traditional review methods. Partnering with GreyLabs AI, Axis Max Life now analyzes all meaningful conversations across more than 700 agents, covering over 600,000 calls and 1.4 crore minutes of customer interactions. Post-conversation follow-up messages, tailored to what customers actually said, have achieved significantly higher click-through rates. Product design decisions are also informed directly by customer voice.
Executive Perspectives
Aman Goel, Founder & CEO of GreyLabs AI, stated, "Axis Max Life Insurance has been an exceptional partner, a team that was willing to fundamentally rethink how customer intelligence should work in a regulated industry. BFSI as a sector has historically been cautious about AI adoption and rightly so. But what this deployment demonstrates is that when AI is implemented with the right guardrails, the right intent, and a genuine focus on business outcomes rather than technology for its own sake, the results are transformative."
Vaibhav Kumar, Head of Products, E-Commerce and Enterprise COE at Axis Max Life Insurance, added, "At Axis Max Life, our digital business is built on the principle of understanding what our customers need. GreyLabs AI's Voice AI Suite has given us an ability to listen to our customers at scale - not just what they say, but what they mean. The intelligence we've gained has helped us serve customers better, design more relevant products, and build more meaningful conversations at every touchpoint."
Future AI Applications
Building on these results, Axis Max Life and GreyLabs AI are exploring expanded AI applications, including a Voice AI Calling Agent to proactively engage prospects and guide them through the purchase journey. This collaboration reflects a broader shift across India's BFSI sector, demonstrating that regulated financial institutions can deploy AI with confidence, compliance, and measurable business impact.
