MGVCL Boosts Healthcare with Rs 35 Lakh Equipment Donation to SSG Hospital
In a significant corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, the Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited (MGVCL) has donated medical equipment worth Rs 35 lakh to the state-run Sir Sayajirao Gaekwad (SSG) Hospital in Vadodara. The donation, aimed at strengthening patient care infrastructure, was officially handed over on Saturday, with the equipment inaugurated by Vadodara Member of Parliament Hemang Joshi.
Enhancing Diagnostic and Treatment Capabilities
The power utility company provided two key pieces of equipment to support specialized departments at the hospital. An image intensifier television (IITV) system, valued at Rs 15 lakh, was donated to the orthopaedics department, while a sonography machine worth Rs 20 lakh was given to the pulmonary medicine department. These additions are expected to significantly improve diagnostic accuracy and treatment outcomes, particularly for underprivileged patients who rely on the public healthcare facility.
Officials Laud the Initiative
During the inauguration ceremony, MP Hemang Joshi praised the quality of treatment at SSG Hospital and emphasized that such corporate contributions play a crucial role in bolstering healthcare services for the poor. He commended MGVCL for its proactive approach and encouraged other companies to follow suit in supporting public healthcare infrastructure.
Dr. Ranjan Aiyar, superintendent of SSG Hospital, highlighted the practical benefits of the new equipment, noting that it will enhance both diagnostic and treatment capabilities. He stressed that this donation will directly benefit poor patients by providing them with access to advanced medical technology that might otherwise be unavailable.
Wide Participation at the Event
The event saw the presence of numerous senior officials and faculty members from SSG Hospital, including Dr. Hemant Mathur, head of the orthopaedics department and faculty dean; Dr. Shreya Shah, additional medical superintendent; Dr. Jivaraj Damor, in-charge dean; Dr. Hitendra Chauhan, RMO; Dr. Jitendra Sisodiya, pulmonary medicine specialist; and Dr. Jagruti Chaudhary, medical store in-charge.
Representing MGVCL were key officials such as additional chief engineer D V Patel, company secretary V M Chavan, senior engineer Pankaj Thanwal, and executive engineer P N Shah. Their participation underscored the company's commitment to corporate social responsibility and community welfare.
This initiative by MGVCL not only addresses immediate healthcare needs but also sets a precedent for corporate involvement in public health, aiming to create a more robust and accessible medical system for all residents of Vadodara.
